Introduction to Steel Strand Manufacturers and Considerations for Wire Selection: Although seemingly insignificant, steel strand plays a crucial role in large-scale projects, such as building construction. Therefore, careful consideration is necessary when purchasing steel strand.
1. Specifications: Each specification of wire is suitable for different applications. Incorrect use may affect later construction. There are models such as 15-7Φ5, 12-7Φ5, and 9-7Φ5 pre-stressed steel strands. Taking 15-7Φ5 as an example, 5 represents a single wire diameter of 5.0mm, 7Φ5 represents 7 such wires forming a single steel strand, and 15 represents 15 strands of 7Φ5 steel strands per bundle. Dimensional deviations require special attention.
2. Types: Steel strand is not a single type of wire but encompasses various kinds, including pre-stressed steel strand, galvanized steel strand for power transmission, and stainless steel strand. Different types have different requirements for the amount of wire. Pre-stressed steel strands are classified into 7-wire, 2-wire, 3-wire, and 19-wire structures, with 7-wire being the most common. Galvanized steel strands and aluminum-clad steel strands for power transmission are also classified into 2, 3, 7, 19, and 37 wire structures.
3. Surface Coating Classification: Steel strands undergo surface treatments, primarily based on application requirements, such as waterproofing and corrosion resistance. Based on coating classification, they can be divided into (smooth) steel strands, galvanized steel strands, epoxy-coated steel strands, aluminum-clad steel strands, copper-plated steel strands, and plastic-coated steel strands. Pay attention to the different applications of these wires when purchasing.
4. Surface: Despite the presence of coatings, the surface should be smooth and clean, free from lubricants or other contaminants. For ungalvanized steel strands, minor rust is permissible, but severe corrosion pitting that affects the normal use of the pre-stressed steel strand is unacceptable.
5. No Broken Wires or Exposed Strands: The wire surface must be smooth, and the cut ends should be even, without inconsistencies in length. Exposed wires or broken strands are unacceptable. The wires must be tightly bound together, otherwise, it will significantly impact the usability.
6. After-Sales Service: Abrasion is inevitable during transportation, and damaged wires cannot be used and must be replaced. Therefore, the factory's after-sales service is crucial.
