The manufacturing process is divided into single-wire manufacturing and twisting manufacturing. When manufacturing single wires, "cold" drawing technology is used. The materials for different products are high-carbon steel wire rods, stainless steel wire rods, or medium and low-carbon steel wire rods, but when zinc plating is required, the single wires should be electroplated or hot-dip galvanized. In the strand manufacturing process, a twisting machine is used to twist multiple steel wires together to form the product, but prestressed steel strands need to undergo continuous stabilization treatment after forming, and the products are generally stored in I-beam wheels or wound without a shaft.

Power galvanized steel strands and aluminum-clad steel strands are also classified into 2, 3, 7, 19, 37, etc. structures according to the number of wires, with the 7-wire structure being commonly used.
