1. Characteristics: Steel wire strands for bridges are steel products made of multiple steel wires twisted together. The carbon steel surface can be galvanized, zinc-aluminum alloyed, aluminum-clad, copper-plated, or epoxy-coated as needed.

2. Classification: Steel wire strands for bridges include galvanized steel wire strands and prestressed steel wire strands. Commonly used prestressed steel wire strands have diameters between 9.53mm and 17.8mm, with some slightly larger diameters available. These prestressed steel wire strands generally consist of 7, 2, 3, or 19 steel cables, which may have metallic or non-metallic corrosion protection. Coating with anti-corrosion grease or wax and wrapping with HDPE creates unbonded steel strand.

3. Manufacturing Methods: The manufacturing process involves single-wire production and twisting. Single-wire production uses (cold) drawing technology, resulting in high-carbon steel wire, stainless steel wire, or medium-low carbon steel wire depending on the product. If galvanizing is required, electroplating or hot-dip galvanizing is performed. In the twisting process, a twisting machine twists multiple wires together to form the product. After forming, prestressed steel wire strands must be stabilized. This is typically done by winding the product onto a working wheel or a shaftless roller.

4. Performance Characteristics: Different steel wire strands for bridges have different performance characteristics.

5. Applications: Galvanized steel wire is generally used for reinforcing bearing cables, cables, and core wires. It can also be used for grounding overhead power lines, barrier cables on roadsides, or structural cables in buildings. Commonly used prestressed steel wire includes uncoated low-relaxation prestressed steel wire and galvanized wire. Applications include roads and bridges, railway bridges, urban intersections, urban light rail, high-rise buildings, hydropower dams, ports and wharves, bedrock protection and anchoring, foundation reinforcement, tunnel and mine anchoring, prestressed cable nets, subways, large building stations, warehouses and factories, tower buildings, and lifting heavy objects.

6. Production Process: Wire - pickling and phosphating - wire drawing - coating (if required) - steel wire strand - stabilization treatment (if prestressed steel wire strand) - finished product.

steel wire strands for bridges The production process is divided into three parts

The first part is single-wire production, generally using stainless steel wire, high-carbon steel wire, or low-carbon steel wire as raw materials for cold rolling to obtain single wires of the required specifications. If coating is required, the single wires are electroplated. The second part is wire twisting, where the produced single wires are twisted together to form steel wire strands of the required specifications. After forming, the prestressed steel wire strands must be stabilized. The third part, packaging, is for ease of transportation and use, usually shipped in shaftless coils and worker wheels.
