What are the characteristics of unbonded steel strands?


   Unbonded Strand Manufacturers consider steel strands to be steel materials composed of multiple steel wires twisted together. Steel strands are commonly used as load-bearing cables, guy wires, reinforcing cores, prestressing materials, locking cables, ground wires, etc. They are widely used in many engineering fields such as bridges, power, water conservancy, construction, and road guardrails. Steel strands can be classified by structure, coating material, use, material properties, etc. Common classification methods are divided into prestressed steel strands, galvanized steel strands, unbonded steel strands, etc., according to their structure.

  Unbonded strand manufacturers believe that the manufacturing process of steel strands is divided into three parts:


  First, the single wire is manufactured. Unbonded strand manufacturers believe that according to the needs, raw materials such as stainless steel wire rod, high-carbon steel, or low-carbon steel wire rod are usually used for cold drawing to obtain single wires of the corresponding specifications. If plating is required, the single wires are plated.


  Secondly, steel strand manufacturing involves twisting the manufactured single wires into steel strands of the corresponding specifications using a stranding machine. Prestressed steel strands need to be stabilized after forming.


  Third is packaging and forming. Unbonded strand manufacturers believe that for convenient transportation and use, two packaging forms, namely, shaftless rollers and I-beam wheels, are usually used for factory shipment.


  Unbonded steel strands should be stored in a dry warehouse and not outdoors. The ground should be laid with sleepers, and direct contact with the damp ground is strictly prohibited. Tarpaulins or rain shelters should be added, and the storage period should be shortened as much as possible. Rust-proof packaging should be used for orders under special circumstances. Surface floating rust does not affect its use, but visible pitting will affect its mechanical properties.


  Key points for the use of unbonded steel strands:


  1. During use, any form of heating and deformation measures are strictly prohibited to avoid reducing the mechanical properties of the unbonded steel strands.


  2. Welding is prohibited during use because the strength of the weld is far lower than the strength of the steel itself, and wire breakage is likely to occur at the weld during tensioning.


  3. Cutting Unbonded Strand Toothless (abrasive wheel card) should be used. Electric and gas welding cutting can easily damage the surface around the steel. At the same time, it causes local heating at the end, and the performance is significantly reduced.
