Storage and Usage Instructions for Steel Strands
I. Storage
Prestressed steel strands should be stored in a dry warehouse. For outdoor and on-site storage, wooden sleepers should be placed on the ground. Direct contact with damp ground is strictly prohibited. Tarpaulins or rain shelters should be used, and storage time should be minimized. For special environments, rust-proof packaging should be specified during ordering. Surface rust on prestressed steel strands does not affect their use, but rust that is visually apparent (pitting) will affect their mechanical properties.
II. Hoisting
Prestressed steel strands should be hoisted and placed sequentially in an orderly manner with gaps between them. Unbonded prestressed steel strands should be hoisted using three parallel jute rope loops. Steel wire rope should not be used for direct hoisting. Coiled prestressed steel strands should be handled with a forklift or special lifting tools to prevent breakage and scattering.
